ABOUT ME!

Hiya! My name is Robin Jones, and I'm an animation student at University West of England [UWE], graduating and open for work June 2026. My animation style focuses on fluidity and expression work, and I primarily work on rough animator on tablet [though I do know industry standard softwares, such as toon boom harmony]. Outside of my university curriculum, I produce character illustrations for fan communities and online clients, with my style focusing on clean rendering.I'm very passionate about frame by frame animation; I find that there's something so special about hand-drawn work that rigs simply cannot do justice. 'Reya & 'Ros [2025]

A fourty second long animatic, produced by me for a university pre-production module. Eiros, a childminder, and Freya, the child he's looking after, prepare to do some baking. However, it only takes a second for things to go haywire when 'Ros looks away!For this project, I wanted to try producing an animatic over a stop motion esque set, which came with it's own struggles regarding the camera angles I was able to take. I had to deconstruct part of the set in order to get the photo for the main shot of the animatic; as a result, I learnt to plan ahead with my projects, and be able to adapt if needed. This project was produced in rough animator.

Trainwreck [2024]

A minute long animatic, produced by me for a university storytelling module. An anxious teen has to take a busy train service to get home, but loses their headphones in the chaos - what will they do?This project was my first experience of pre production work in animation, and it taught me a lot about all the work that goes into pre production. For example, I got marked down on the fact my animatic used colour, as I didn't realise that colour [besides for storytelling reasons], isn't to be used in animatics; whoops! Similarly to 'Reya & 'Ros, this project was made in rough animator.

[Not So!] Purrrfect Rescue [2024]

A 2D short film, made as part of a collaborative student project aimed at a preschool audience. A little cat knight sets off on a great adventure to rescue a ball of yarn - but runs into some trouble along the way!I directed the production of the full short film, as well as animating two shots [top 2 videos] and producing all art direction. My shots were animated in rough animator, a 2D animation software for tablets. This project was my first time working as part of a group on an animation, and it taught me a lot about directing a group, as well as learning to work around people who drop out of their roles unexpectedly.Full film made by Robin Jones, Ella Rose Shergold. When Earth Meets A Star [2026]

A 2D animated trailer, produced as part of a final year student project. A story of two characters tied by destiny, meeting for the first time in the vast bounds of space.
I did the rough animation for two shots of this trailer, shown to the left - and later along the production pipeline, will be helping to colour more shots. The final trailer is looking to be completed as of May 2026!
